My ceramic business was born out of a passion for creating unique, handmade pieces that tell a story. Originally launched as Smiley Riley Design in 2022, my journey began with screen-printed Buffalo Bills apparel on Etsy. What started as a fun side project quickly led me to discover the challenges of navigating NFL trademark laws, and after receiving a few cease-and-desist letters, I pivoted my focus to what I truly love: ceramics.

Initially posting my handmade ceramic items on Etsy, I never imagined how quickly they would take off. When a platter I made for my best friend was featured on TikTok, it went viral—and suddenly, my childhood playroom became a small business hub. In just two weeks, I sold 100 platters, which was an incredible, surreal experience. This unexpected success inspired me to build my own studio, invest in a kiln and a slab roller, and dedicate myself fully to creating ceramic pieces.

As my work and business evolved, I decided to rebrand under my real name, Riley Elizabeth, to better reflect the change in my craft and my journey as an artist. What started as a hobby and a dream has now become a full-fledged business, and I’m incredibly grateful for every step along the way. Each piece I create is crafted with care and passion, and I’m excited to continue growing, learning, and sharing my work with you.
